The Pride of the Ilocanos; A Colorful Vigan City Festival

Longganisa Festival is the first festivity celebrated in Vigan every year which usually happens every 22nd of January, the date of the cityhood of Vigan. However, January 25 is the exact date of the Vigan City fiesta. It is a week-long festival held around January 25th, the fiesta commemorates the town’s patron saint, St Paul the Apostle, with a parade, musical performances, beauty contests and cultural shows that had been prepared for this occasion.

I went to watch the Longganisa Street Dancing with a few friends on the 22nd of January. The dancers danced skillfully with bright smiles that lit up the atmosphere, and costumes that were mostly bright and some that are not, yet they still catch the crowd's eye. It was crowded then but we got to watch it until the Street Dancing had ended.

Going further to the fiesta, I went to watch the fireworks at night on the 28th of January where I bumped into some friends. We watched as the bright and vivid sparks burst in the night sky, lighting it up beautifully. The Ilocos Sur Festival still has events upcoming in a few days, hopefully I can go to these upcoming events and cherish it in my memories like the others I had experienced. This Festival is one of a kind that everyone will surely enjoy on their stay here in Vigan. A festival that Ilocos Sur celebrates every year where we go all out in enjoying this festivity.
